If you only have a small vSphere Essentials than it is easier to buy a new one directly from VMware/Partner but if we are speaking about vSphere ESXi and vCenter than you would avoid of buying new ones. More current i have done it the same but there was a small fee Years ago the Support was transfed from the HW vendor to VMware like the standard. you have at least the following option because thats what i have done in the past Its more common these days that VMware stuff comes with the HW and not as an extra.īut what ever they say. But please go in contacts with HPE because youre not alone and not the first one.
If the HW reach its end of live now you have a challenge because some vendors doesnt offer a renewal of that part of the contract because its bundled to the HW. What its now make it complicated is that the subscription comes from VMware and the support from the HW Vendor. licenses and trying to migrate from 6.5 to 6.7, same licenses will work. So might be different and may have to buy a new license. However if you already have an SA, ESXi and vCenter 5 licenses can be upgraded to 6. We bought the HPE’s ProLiant D元60 with ESXi 5.5.
